Cibola County is seeking a Custodian to provide cleaning and custodial services at the Public Safety Complex and county facilities in Grants, NM. You will help keep our buildings clean, safe, and orderly, using various cleaning machines and supplies.
The role is 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with duties indoors and occasional outdoors. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid NM driver’s license, and be able to pass background and drug tests.
Under the general guidance of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, the Custodian is responsible for a wide variety of cleaning and general custodial services at Cibola County Public Safety Complex and other County facilities by keeping assigned areas clean, orderly, safe, and secure with established standards and adjusting individual assignments on a daily basis. Uses several types of power-driven machines and cleaning materials. The goal is to keep our buildings in a clean and orderly condition. This position works thirty-two (30) hours a week, Monday through Friday.
Most of the work is performed indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Some essential duties require the worker to perform outdoors where you will be exposed to natural weather conditions. Employee performs work on an even surface, which may be carpeted, or tiled. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces which may be wet or dry. Outdoor duties may be performed on surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, natural ground, ice, snow, gravel, or roof tops. Use of ladders and scaffolding may be also required. Worker is exposed to occasional vibration and noise factor while performing maintenance and repair duties. Maintenance Workers remain on their feet for much of the job, which includes the use of cleaning equipment, such as buffers, climbing a ladder or staircase, working on wet or slippery surfaces, and working with a wide variety or potentially harmful chemicals.
