Position: Custodian – Part Time

As a part-time custodian, you’ll play a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our guests. Your work will support the dignity of those we serve and reflect the love of Christ in every space. Your contributions will foster a place of comfort and renewal, where all who enter feel valued and cared for.

Position Details:

• Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
• Off Days: Sunday & Monday

• Hourly Pay: $16/hour

How You’ll Help Fulfill the HSHM Mission

Custodial Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize all areas throughout the shelter and restrooms
• Clean, mop, wash, vacuum floors, and shampoo carpets
• Empty trash
• Clean windows
• Maintain outside walk areas, including sweeping debris and washing walkways
• Refill supplies as needed
• Maintain accurate inventory records
• Ensure supply caddies are fully stocked, including PPEs
• Follow OSHA guidelines and ensure Safety Data Sheets are current

Communication:

• Proactively communicate custodial needs and plans to supervisor
• Update status of tasks regularly
• Maintain confidentiality
• Carry agency-provided radio at all times while on duty

Qualifications

• Mission-oriented with values aligned with Home Sweet Home Ministries
• Minimum of one year custodial experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Self-motivated, able to work independently
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to send/receive emails via Outlook and perform basic data entry
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task

Physical Demands

The physical demands include regularly talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. Exposure to dust, odors, fumes, and noise is expected.
