Job summary

UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA is seeking a reliable Custodian to maintain a clean, safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors on the Norman campus. The role covers cleaning, sanitation, light maintenance and event support by arranging and resetting furnishings for meetings and conferences.

The position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays, with a 4:00am–12:30pm schedule from Wednesday through Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Provide basic building maintenance in offices, meeting spaces, event venues, and public areas.
• Assist with room setups and event support by arranging, moving, and resetting tables and chairs as needed.
• Support campus events and staff with setup, breakdown, and general cleanup duties.

Pay Range:Targeted hourly pay of $13.75, based on experience

Position Introduction:

The Oklahoma Memorial Union is seeking a reliable and service-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for routine cleaning, sanitation, and basic building maintenance throughout offices, meeting spaces, event venues, and public areas within the Union. In addition to custodial duties, this role assists with room setups and event support by arranging, moving, and resetting tables, chairs, and other furnishings to accommodate meetings, conferences, and special events. Successful candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the facility remains attractive, functional, and ready to support the needs of the campus community. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

• Valid Oklahoma Driver's License to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

Department Preferences:

• May require some weekend and/or overtime work.
• May be designated as an essential position during emergency closures.
• May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
