OSU-Institute of Technology is hiring a custodian responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary campus environment. The role requires physical activity, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and prior custodial experience; a valid Oklahoma driver’s license may be required for travel between campus facilities. Work schedule includes evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 1:009m-9:30pm with occasional evenings and weekends. Switches to 10:00am-6:30pm during dormitory turnaround.

$12.00 - $12.00

About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The custodian is responsible for keeping the facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

Required Qualifications

• High School/GED

  Education:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

• Experience

  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Previous experience as a general custodian.
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies.

Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Licensure/Certification:

• An Oklahoma driver's license will be required if performing the functions of the position requires the use of a personal or university vehicle.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively.
• Must be able to read and understand MSDS sheets and department directives.
• Ability to handle multiple work priorities simultaneously and work with minimal supervision in a highly self-motivated manner.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Position requires that employee be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, reach, and walk up and down stairs. Must have use of all limbs.

Communication Skills:

• Must be able to read and write and follow directives.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a positive attitude.
• Excellent listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential.
