Job summary

Salem School District is seeking a Custodian - First Shift to secure facilities and perform routine cleaning across school buildings in Salem, NH. You will work under supervision from lead staff and maintain safe, orderly premises.

Responsibilities include cleaning, minor maintenance, and keeping records. The role requires reliability, teamwork, and the ability to operate cleaning equipment while following safety guidelines; shifts include night/weekend availability as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of custodial experience preferred in commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety practices.
• Ability to read signs and work schedules; write and record information.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Secure district property and perform routine custodial work.
• Clean classrooms, restrooms and common areas; replenish supplies.
• Operate floor care machines and basic maintenance tools.
• Inspect and secure doors/windows; report issues to supervisors.
• Maintain records of work completed and follow safety procedures.
