Grand Forks Public Schools is seeking a Lead Custodian to provide custodial services at assigned locations. This role involves ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for students and staff while overseeing shift operations. Candidates should possess supervisory skills and experience in maintenance tasks, along with the ability to lift heavy items.
Terms of Employment: twelve (12) months
Hours: 6:00amto 2:30 pm, M-F, 40 hrs/week. Hours may vary daily depending on tasks and could include some evening and weekend hours depending on events.
Education:High school diploma or high school equivalency.
Qualifications:Supervisory and training skills; knowledge of maintenance procedures: housekeeping, floor care, minor repairs, and troubleshooting; experience with HVAC hydronic cooling/heating systems; human relations skills; ability to lift sixty (60) pounds.
Job Goal:The job of Lead Custodian is done for the purpose/s of providing custodial services at assigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical cleaning equipment, common tools, etc.; and adhering to safety practices.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read and follow instructions; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods of industrial cleaning; and safety practices and procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Facility Manager.
