Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a dedicated janitor to maintain clean and organized work areas. The role involves performing routine cleaning tasks, minor repairs, and adherence to company standards. It supports the plant's overall operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have HS diploma, 2+ years of janitorial experience, and the ability to work up to 12 hours per day, including weekends. ESOP participation reflects the employee-owned culture and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties to maintain assigned areas to company standards.
• Follow standard work and daily checklists to ensure tasks meet expectations.
• Clean and maintain fixtures (lights, locks, windows, doors, walls, floors).
• Sanitize and stock restrooms/locker rooms according to procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty trash and manage waste systems.
• Maintain exterior grounds including landscaping and clean windows indoors.

POSITION PURPOSE

Performs janitorial duties necessary to maintain and protect the assigned areas of responsibility. Ensures that external and internal appearance of a building is clean, organized and meets Company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

• Follows standard work and daily checklists to ensure that all assigned tasks are performed to standard and meet expectations.
• Clean and make minor repair to building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters and drains.
• Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms/locker rooms using established practices and procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Remove outside debris and maintain grounds as assigned.
• Maintain the landscape around the buildings and fence lines.
• Clean all windows indoors.
• Clean and sanitize lunchrooms floors, furniture and counters.
• Other duties assigned by the Management.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Proven experience as janitor or in a similar role.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Education: HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred Education: Associates Degree.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional janitorial experience.
