Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of custodial duties and safety
• Ability to work with children in a school environment
• Capable of light to heavy cleaning tasks
• Physically able to perform climbing and lifting
• Must pass WV custodian competency tests
• Able to understand written/verbal instructions and reporting procedures
• Able to calculate dilutions and read cleaning chemical labels

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and safety of school buildings and grounds
• Clean interiors: classrooms, offices, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms
• Perform floor care: scrubbing, mopping, waxing, polishing
• Remove waste and prepare for disposal
• Ensure entrances/sidewalks are safe and clear
• Maintain grounds and exterior areas as directed
• Perform minor maintenance and report major repairs
• Assist with opening/closing routines and building readiness
• Move furniture/equipment to support events
• Monitor supplies and assist in ordering
• Address safety hazards and report major issues
• Adhere to district safety policies and procedures
• Assist other buildings as needed
• Participate in monitoring building systems when trained
• Support custodial operations during shifts
• Display flag and maintain daily attendance and promptness
• Maintain exterior cleanliness and report graffiti
• Assist with security checks at non-instructional facilities
• Support with housekeeping during closed facilities
