Overview

Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian III in the Operations & Maintenance Division. In this position, you will be working independently and as part of a diverse group that performs daily custodial duties.

This position will begin work at the Springfield State Office Building and drive a state-owned vehicle to the temporary courthouse to work on a daily basis. Once renovations are completed at the Windsor County courthouse, this position will be permanently stationed in White River Junction.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 2:00pm to 10:30pm and will include a shift differential on top of the base pay. This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of multiple background checks.

Job Responsibilities

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state-owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.

OR

Two (2) years as a BGS Custodian II.

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
