Pocahontas County Schools is seeking a Custodian III to maintain school facilities, perform custodial duties, minor repairs, and groundskeeping to support a clean, safe learning environment.
Qualifications include High School Diploma or GED, ability to pass state exams, and a criminal background check. Salary is based on experience per the Pocahontas County Schools salary schedule; 220-day contract with ongoing duties.

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and Pocahontas County Schools Policy 4220
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
CONTRACT: 220-day contract

Term of employment: Effective upon board approval for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. Term of employment shall be 200 days each year thereafter.

Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8:
Custodian III means a person employed to keep buildings clean and free of refuse, to operate the heating or cooling systems, and to make minor repairs.
The Custodian III is responsible for maintaining school buildings, facilities, and grounds in a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly condition that supports student learning and school operations. The employee performs custodial duties, preventive maintenance, groundskeeping, minor repairs, and facility preparation activities while promoting a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
