The Custodian II performs moderately complex (journey-level) custodial work, including cleaning, dusting, disinfecting, operating floor maintenance equipment, restocking supplies, inspecting buildings and equipment, performing minor repairs, and maintaining outside areas. Works under general supervision with moderate autonomy.

Performs other duties as assigned, including supporting disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities, which may require shift or location adjustments.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs)

• Attend work regularly, possibly on a rotating or extended shift schedule, including overtime.
• Perform custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning to high standards.
• Maintain and clean various areas, report repairs, and replenish supplies.
• Coach other custodians as needed.
• Inspect facilities for cleanliness and repairs, perform minor maintenance.
• Complete documentation accurately, maintain inventory and equipment records.
• Help maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation, infection control, and inventory principles.
• Skills in using custodial equipment and handling chemicals safely.
• Ability to stay focused, follow instructions, lift up to 50 pounds, and work on hard floors for extended periods.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others and adapt to irregular hours.

Additional Requirements

• No specific licensure required.
• Minimum six months of relevant work experience; experience in healthcare or residential facilities preferred.
• Must pass background checks, drug screening, and registry checks.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old (21 for Waco Center for Youth).
• Immunization compliance required, including potential vaccination or protective measures.
