The Custodian II will be part of a close-knit team that insures a clean and safe environment for students, and supports each other in that mission. This position will clean and perform room set-ups in assigned building areas following established industry leading routines and procedures, serve as a lead person on cleaning assignments and be responsible for training and supporting temporary summer employees on methods and procedures. This position may be required to work on occasional evenings and weekends.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO






  • Clean, disinfect, deodorize, and restock common areas (including, but not limited to offices, corridors, restrooms, entrances, stairwells, elevators, lounges, lobbies, meeting rooms, internal windows, furniture, etc.)








  • Operate equipment related to duties (carpet extractor, vacuum, etc.)








  • * Lead small teams of employees to complete project work as assigned. Especially on








  • weekends








  • Respond to high-priority situations as required (spills, leaks, vandalism, etc.) and maintain








  • a clean and orderly cart, supply closet, and storage areas.








  • Remove trash from designated areas several times per shift








  • Observe and adhere to all safety rules and regulations as directed by management.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:


High school diploma or GED preferred. Six months experience working in an institutional, industrial or commercial setting preferred.


Preferred Hiring Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings preferred.

  • Knowledge of custodial service practices, techniques, and procedures preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Georgia State University (GSU) campus, buildings and facilities, preferred.
