Job summary

Missouri State University is seeking a Custodian I under the IBEW Union bid for Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services on the Springfield campus. The position operates third shift (11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., Thursday–Monday) and offers a base hourly rate with a third shift differential.

It requires minimal education and custodial experience and includes heavy cleaning duties and event setup. Open to current MSU regular full-time employees, the role is non-exempt and includes duties from routine

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of the 10th grade is required; a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: At least one year of custodial experience is required.
• Skills: Must be able to read English sufficiently to understand work orders and chemical instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine floor, carpet, and restroom cleaning following established guidelines.
• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, and common areas, including furniture and fixtures.
• Handle setup for events and move furniture or equipment as needed.
• Assist with snow/ice removal and emergency response per procedures.
• Follow safety procedures for chemical handling and disposal.
