Job description

Custodian I, Overnight
Eagan Community Center
Part-Time Recurring (Year-Round), Non-Exempt, Non-Union, Not Benefit Eligible
Starting Pay: $22.971 Per Hour

Join our team at the Eagan Community Center as a part-time Custodian, where your efforts will help keep our community hub sparkling clean and welcoming! In this role, you'll collaborate with dedicated custodial staff to maintain all areas, operate cleaning equipment, and ensure a safe and inviting environment for all visitors.

Shifts are Tuesday and Wednesday, up to 12 hours per week. Variation in shift lengths and start times can be accommodated.

Position open until filled.
Responsibilities:
  • Clean and maintain all areas of the community center and its grounds
  • Operate equipment related to custodial cleaning such as floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, vacuums, buffers, pressure washers, sweepers, etc.
  • Perform tasks such as changing light bulbs, washing windows, maintaining restrooms, restocking inventory in custodial storerooms, mopping floors, dusting, repairing/patching walls, light painting, and staining/varnishing woodwork
  • Perform exterior building maintenance including snow blowing, shoveling, spreading sand and salt, picking up litter, and waste collection and disposal
  • Clean and organize meeting rooms by setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and equipment
  • Assist other departments with custodial and maintenance tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year of experience working in a custodial or janitorial related job
  • Experience performing custodial or janitorial functions in a similar setting such as community/recreation/fitness centers, hotels, banquet facilities, or schools

Work hours: Shifts are Friday and Saturday overnights, up to 24 hours per week. Variation in shift lengths and start times can be accommodated.

Work Environments/Requirements:

This position requires indoor and outdoor working conditions in which temperatures could reach 100 degrees with high humidity in the summer and 30 below zero in the winter.

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, bend, and hear.
  • Frequently may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb a ladder, operate a lift, small hand tools, and operate a vehicle with multiple hand and feet operations.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, and peripheral vision.
