Job summary

Oklahoma State University (OSU-Stillwater campus) is seeking a day-shift custodian to maintain a clean and orderly facility. Responsibilities include cleaning offices, meeting rooms, public areas, restrooms, and retail spaces, plus vacuuming, mopping, dusting, waxing, and woodwork polishing.

You will use assigned equipment and file work orders for maintenance needs. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.

Qualifications

• Custodian I: No experience required.
• Custodian II: Two years of related work experience.
• Custodian III: Four years of related work experience.
• Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, meeting rooms, public areas, hallways, stairs, escalators, restrooms, and retail shops.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, perform hard floor maintenance, dust, wax, and polish surfaces and furniture.
• Empty trash and maintain cleanliness of woodwork and brass.
• Fill out work order forms detailing equipment issues and maintenance needs.
• Lift up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally more than 50 pounds; heavy manual labor.

About this Position

This position is a day shift. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining an orderly and clean facility. Cleans assigned areas to include offices, meeting rooms, public areas, hallways, stairs, escalators, restrooms, and retail shops. Cleaning is defined to include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, hard floor maintenance, dusting, waxing, polishing office furniture and cleaning woodwork, empty trash, polish brass and office furniture. Utilizes assigned equipment and fills out work order forms detailing equipment and any other problems and any other conditions requiring maintenance. Performs related duties as assigned and as the need arises. Maybe required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Required Qualifications

• One year experience in housekeeping, floor cleaning, tile/carpet upkeep, and/or wood surface cleaning.
