Job summary

The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is hiring a full-time Custodian 1 at Spokane Veterans Home in Spokane, WA. You will perform custodial tasks, clean resident areas, and maintain a safe, sanitary environment for Veterans and staff.

The role requires physical ability, attention to safety and infection control, and the ability to work Thursday through Monday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The facility offers a 24/7 premium differential where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must have listening skills and be able to work productively with staff and residents.
• Must maintain safety and infection control standards.
• Physical ability to perform required custodial work.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and floor care equipment; safety with toxic materials.
• Agency competencies: learn and grow; meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

• Provide custodial cleaning service in assigned areas, resident rooms, common areas, and offices.
• Vacuum and extract carpets as required.
• Mop, disinfect, and strip and wax as required.
• Maintain baseboards free of dirt and wax buildup.
• Empty trash and maintain receptacles free of odors.
• Perform various housekeeping tasks.
• Keep toilets, urinals, sinks, and fixtures clean and free of scale, film, and odors.
• Maintain elevators in a clean and streak-free condition.
• Assist nursing and food service staff in cleaning dining rooms after meals.
• Restock custodial cart with equipment and supplies.
