Job summary

Management & Training Corporation operates the Joliet Job Corps Center in Joliet, IL. This full-time custodial position supports a clean, safe learning environment for students and staff, with competitive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

You will perform a wide range of cleaning tasks, supervise student workers as needed, and help enforce safety and zero-tolerance policies. A high school diploma/equivalent and valid driver's license are preferred; wage is $21.42 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred and one year related experience required.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and preserve all flooring by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing and sweeping.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures.
• Wash walls, windows and woodwork; dust desks and cabinets.
• Collect trash in assigned buildings; sweep entrances and sidewalks.
• Supervise student workers on center custodial tasks.
• Provide positive, quality customer service to students and staff.
• Participate in employability programs and activities.
• Enforce Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Model Career Success Standards and mentor students.
• Maintain accountability of students and property with safety practices.

What you will be doing:

Responsible for the completion of a wide variety of tasks and keeping assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition, in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions

• Maintain and preserve all flooring and/or covering by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing and sweeping
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and associated fixtures
• Wash walls, windows and woodwork; dust desks, bookshelves, cabinets and other office furniture
• Collect and dispose of all litter, trash in assigned buildings; sweep and clean exterior steps, entrances, landings and sidewalks
• Supervise students on center work support who are assigned custodial duties
• Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers
• Participate in student employability programs and activities
• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
• Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education & Experience
