Food Services Custodian
JOB GOAL
The Food Service Custodian is a standalone classification and is distinguished from other classifications by its responsibility for servicing the needs of the Food Services Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to act individually and as a team member in resolving problems and completing projects on time and within budget.
- Possession of good customer service skills with a positive and helpful attitude.
- Any combination of education and experience relative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs a variety of custodial duties which includes: Cleaning the cafeterias and kitchens, emptying trash, collecting food trays, sweeping floors, mopping, cleaning windows, sinks, counters, Kitchen Staff bathroom, and mirror, replenishing toilet paper, towels, and soap, washing walls, doors and handles, cleaning cafeteria tables.
- Sets up and takes down equipment for meal service.
- Collects lunch meal service trash from the cafeteria, kitchen office, and Breakfast in the classroom and takes it out for disposal.
- Provides backup and assistance to others involved in the preparation, serving, clean-up, and maintenance of the kitchen and cafeteria area.
- Available to put away deliveries.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
- Proper handling of chemicals
- Using custodial equipment such as buffers.
- Skill in following established occupational safety and health regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school district
- Basic cleaning techniques.
- Chemicals and chemical mixtures.
- Safety and security procedures
- Basic mathematics.
- Food handler's cards
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Positions in the class typically require climbing, balance, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check.
- May be exposed to dangerous machinery, potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals, fumes, and infectious diseases.
- Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 of force constantly to move objects.
