Job summary

Bexar County is seeking a Custodian - C to maintain clean and sanitary facilities across county buildings. Under general supervision, you will perform routine custodial tasks and ensure sanitation controls are followed.

The role requires light physical work, ability to work evenings or weekends, and adherence to safety standards. A GED or HS diploma and basic knowledge of custodial practices are required, along with reliable performance and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, or six months of general housekeeping/janitorial experience.
• Knowledge of custodial and sanitation practices and safety standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; maintain confidentiality.
• Background check and pre-employment screenings required.

Responsibilities

• Performs general custodial duties: dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing, restrooms/kitchens, restocking supplies.
• Maintains and operates custodial equipment; basic maintenance of tools.
• Empties trash, disposes waste, and ensures proper disposal.
• Reports needs to Custodial Supervisor; supports work orders and inventory checks.
• Ensures safety practices and environmental guidelines are followed.
• Performs facility-specific cleaning per seasonal/project requirements.
