Primary Purpose

Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Cleaning

• Maintain a cleaning schedule including floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
• Comply with laws and procedures for trash storage and disposal.
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and request additional supplies as needed.

Maintenance and Repair

• Assist with lunchroom setup, including arranging tables and chairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance for safety, comfort, and health.
• Regulate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Make minor repairs and report major issues to the principal.
• Move furniture or equipment as directed.
• Assist in setting up facilities for events.

Safety

• Assist with opening and closing the building daily.
• Follow procedures for locking and safeguarding facilities.
• Ensure exit doors are operational during occupancy.
• Inspect equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Operate tools safely.
• Follow safety procedures for lifting, climbing, etc.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.
