Job summary

The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence is seeking a general cleaner to perform routine cleaning tasks across our facilities. The role includes maintaining work areas, restrooms, and common spaces, with focus on safety and adherence to cleaning protocols.

Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and provide their own transportation. Training on cleaning agents and equipment will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in janitorial work preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Must be capable of working on feet for extended periods of time.
• Must provide your own transportation to work.
• Must read MSD sheets and identify chemical labels.
• Willing to learn proper cleaning agents and usage of supplies.
• Willing to learn maintenance and safety features of cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Trash removal.
• Sweep/mop/dust/vacuum as assigned.
• Wet mop.
• Perform restroom disinfectant and cleaning as assigned.
• Wash windows.
• Monitor use of equipment and report malfunctions.

Job description

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work – Up to 40 hours per week.

Occasional overtime may be required. Nights and/or weekends and holiday work, depending on needs related to the contract. May also require occasional day time work.

Qualifications

Must provide your own transportation to work. Must be able to read and identify MSD sheets and various chemical labels and markings. Must be willing to learn proper use of cleaning agents and usage of various supplies. Must be willing to learn proper maintenance and safety features of both light and heavy custodial equipment.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.

Summary / Objective - Perform general cleaning tasks and maintain work areas as assigned.
