Job description

Position: Custodial/Building Facilitator

Location: Gudy Gaskill Elementary

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Clean building interior by vacuuming, mopping, waxing, buffing, stripping floors, and cleaning walls, windows, restrooms, mirrors, and other common areas. Maintain the site by shoveling snow, weeding, pruning trees, trimming hedges, raking leaves, picking up trash, and sweeping sidewalks.
  2. Supervise custodial team and coordinate with teachers and building administrators regarding repair requests and planning for upcoming events. Schedule staff and overtime as needed.
  3. Perform minor electrical work, including replacing ballasts, light tubes, outlets, switches, testing fuses, and breakers.
  4. Handle minor plumbing tasks such as unclogging toilets, urinals, sinks, drains, and replacing or rebuilding flush valves and faucets.
  5. Conduct repairs on furniture and fixtures, patch walls, paint, replace ceiling tiles, and perform carpentry work.
  6. Assist with event setup and support other district maintenance staff as needed.
  7. Operate and test building systems including fire alarms, security systems, fire extinguishers, and utility shutoffs according to district policies.
  8. Order and monitor custodial and maintenance supplies, managing budgets by comparing actual expenditures with budgets.
Qualifications:

Additional Information:

Hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This is a full-time, year-round position with a starting salary of $21.98 per hour plus benefits, with additional compensation based on experience. The work year consists of 245 contract days.
