Base pay range

$16.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Summary: The Custodian/Baler Operator will maintain the cleanliness and operational order of our facility while also operating and maintaining the baler machine used for compacting recyclable materials. This dual-role position ensures a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible workplace.

Schedule:

1st Shift, Monday-Friday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, or similar. Training may occur at other times.

Salary Range: $16.00 To 18.00 Hourly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Custodial Duties:
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors, restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and replace liners.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and equipment.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging sinks/toilets, and reporting major maintenance needs.
• Restock restroom and cleaning supplies.
• Follow all cleaning and sanitation protocols, especially those related to safety and hygiene standards.
• Baler Operation Duties:
• Operate and maintain baler equipment to compact cardboard, plastic, or other recyclables.
• Monitor baler operation for safety and performance; report malfunctions promptly.
• Tie, remove, and transport bales to the designated storage or pickup area.
• Keep baler area clean and organized, ensuring materials are sorted and staged properly.
• Maintain accurate logs of bale counts, material weights, and maintenance checks.
• Additional:
• Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
• Regularly perform general housekeeping duties in your work area(s)
• Adhere to all safety policies and protocols and maintain a safe working environment
• Attend all department/company meetings
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES:

• High school diploma or GED, preferred.
• Previous experience in custodial or janitorial services required.

• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, other departments, and management effectively.
• Proficient in reading comprehension, especially in understanding job ticket assignments and customer instructions.
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and efficient in managing time, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks accurately.
• Technology: Strong computer literacy and familiarity with industry-standard software.
