Job summary

The Salvation Army in Sarasota, FL is seeking a part-time janitorial worker to maintain and clean buildings and grounds. Shifts are Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 3:00pm, totaling 25 hours per week, with benefits included.

Responsibilities include daily housekeeping, sanitizing restrooms and kitchens, laundry duties, and assisting with meeting room setups and building operations. A valid driver’s license may be required for certain tasks.

Qualifications

• No formal education is required for this role.
• Six months experience in general custodian/janitorial duties or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• A valid State driver’s license may be required for some assignments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of buildings and grounds through daily housekeeping and custodial duties.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, offices, common areas, laundry areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and wax floors; clean windows; dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Perform laundry duties, including washing, folding, and storing shelter laundry and linens, and regularly empty and collect trash.
• Assist with meeting room setups, groundskeeping, opening and closing the building, and other related duties as needed.

This position is responsible for:

Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Physical Requirements and Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors.

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
