Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Lead Custodian to supervise and assist a custodian crew in maintaining academic and administrative buildings on campus. The role includes supervising in the absence of the Custodian Supervisor A and ensuring safety and cleanliness of facilities.

The position requires at least one year of custodial-related experience. It is an emergency essential role with potential for advancement within LSU Facilities Services.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker among custodian staff; assist with time and attendance records and distribution of keys, supplies and materials; supervise in the absence of Custodian Supervisor A.
• Perform housekeeping tasks and manual labor to support campus operations; ensure equipment is safe and functional; perform duties of Custodian 2 as needed.
• Perform any other related duties to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the University and support department operations.

May be assigned to specific facilities with a variety of functions as required. Will have supervisory responsibilities in the absence of Custodian Supervisor A. Job Duties:50%- Serve as lead worker amongst the custodian staff. Support Supervisors in the day-to day which may include but is not limited to inspections and job follow-up. Assist Custodian Supervisor As with time and attendance records, distribution of keys, supplies and materials. Stands in for Custodian Supervisor A's in their absence. May assist with other supervisory task such as hiring, discipline and training. 40%- Performing housekeeping task, manual labor and other activities necessary for the efficient operation of the campus. Performs the same tasks and duties assigned to Custodian 2s. Inspects and ensures that all equipment to be used is safe and fully functional. 10%- Performs any other miscellaneous related duties necessary to maintain the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the University as well as the efficient and safe operation of the department.
