CUSTODIAN 2

LSU Alexandria seeks a motivated candidate for the Custodian 2 position.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Six months of custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service experience.

Function of Work: To perform manual tasks maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of state buildings and facilities.

Level of Work: Experienced.

Supervision Received: General supervision from a Custodian Supervisor A; other reporting relationships may be approved.

Supervision Exercised: None.

Location of Work: All state agencies.

Job Distinctions: Differs from Custodian 1 by higher-level custodial tasks; differs from Custodian 3 by absence of advanced tasks.

Examples of Work

Tasks include cleaning various areas, trash disposal, furniture dusting, mixing cleaning solutions, setting up for events, cleaning windows and walls, operating cleaning equipment, and minor repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

General: Serves on a custodial crew, providing services across diverse environments, requiring higher skill levels than Custodian 1. Interacts with faculty, staff, students, and the public, supporting university functions and events. Requires knowledge of campus facilities and safety/training programs.

Specific duties include:

• Cleaning laboratories, studios, and specialized areas, sometimes handling hazardous materials.
• Managing waste and recycling, including bio-hazardous waste.
• Floor maintenance and cleaning, including waxing and polishing.
• Operating cleaning machinery and tools.
• Cleaning interior windows, walls, and fixtures.
• Security responsibilities involving keys and building access.
• Setting up for events and miscellaneous custodial tasks.

Additional tasks include recording maintenance issues, conducting energy audits, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
