STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Maintenance Worker will be required to ensure the center is maintained in a clean, sanitary condition for the benefit of those attending the program and in compliance with health and safety rules and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL:
* Sweep, mop, wax, and vacuum all floors and stairways.
* Wash and dust windows, walls and mirrors.
* Scrub handrails, baseboards, and stair landings.
* Empty waste baskets and garbage cans daily.
* Remove and clean window treatments and dust all areas in the center as directed.
* Clean and polish furniture and metal work.
* Dust light fixtures, replace light bulbs and fuses.
* Ensure that bathrooms are cleaned and stocked with supplies as necessitated.
* Responsible for seasonal cleaning of leaves and snow around premises.
* Wash down sidewalks and lower portions of building.
* Dust vents weekly and wash monthly.
* Responsible for maintaining clean environment internally and around exterior of building daily.
* Accept paper good and households supply deliveries, store items and keep inventory.
* Responsible for set up and breakdown of chairs and tables as necessitated to accommodate various activities and social events.
* Responsible for all garbage removal daily and collecting all recyclables items including transporting items at a designated time and place.
* Responsible for garbage removal to outside curb twice per week.
* Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies; order where applicable.
* Provide minor repairs at site where necessitated to include: painting, plumbing.
* Inspect all emergency lights at center.
OTHER DUTIES:
* May be required to clean vents and drains weekly on the roof.
* Accept food deliveries in absence of cook, and assist in storing of food items.
* Assist in storing can goods and household supplies in its appropriate area.
* Perform other duties as directed by Program Manager or designee.
* Attended cultural and LGBT sensitivity training.
* Transport elderly clients on regularly scheduled routes from their homes to destinations such as senior centers, supermarkets, shopping malls, medical appointments as determined by the Director or other assigned staff.
* Escort and assist the elderly and infirm clients from their homes to the vehicle and back, if necessary.
* Perform other duties as directed by the Program Manager.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or GED preferred.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
* One year of maintenance experience.
* Pass Fire Drill Conductor test within 6 months of employment.
* Good communication skills required.
* Ability to write, read, and speak English required.
* Experience in cleaning and providing minor repairs required.
* Experience in operating ladders, cleaning equipment/materials, and shovel or snow blower.
* Custodial experience preferred.
* Ability to manage time effectively to accomplish tasks.
* Valid New York State Driver’s License (Class D) preferred with Three (3) years driving experience with no more than one moving violation within a 24 month period, no driving while intoxicated convictions.
