Job summary

Collegium Charter School invites applications for a Custodian. This Full-Time, hourly, school-year position runs 11:30am–8:00pm, Monday–Friday, reporting to the Head Custodian. Responsibilities include cleaning, maintenance, and ensuring a safe, welcoming school environment.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, ability to follow instructions, and PA clearances. Prior school custodial experience is preferred; candidates must be reliable and able to work

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Proficiency with basic computer operations.
• Required PA Clearances (Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Clearance) dated within one year of receipt.
• Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeteria, gymnasium, and other school spaces daily.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust as needed to maintain a neat environment.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal.
• Drive a 10-passenger student van or department truck when needed.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs, including replacing light bulbs and reporting needs to supervisor.
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities.
• Maintain safe conditions by addressing spills, hazards, and weather-related concerns such as snow/ice removal.
• Ensure buildings are kept locked and secured at all times.
• Assist with delivery and storage of supplies, furniture, and equipment.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning and restroom supplies as needed.
• Follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
• Provide winter clean up and snow removal from walkways and steps.

Summary
The custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors within the school building and grounds. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that the school is a healthy and welcoming place for learning.
