Job summary

The Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA is seeking a dependable Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment for members, guests, and staff. This part-time role offers daytime hours Monday through Friday, with a wage between $9.00 and $12.00 per hour.

You will perform cleaning duties across wellness spaces, program rooms, locker rooms, and common areas, ensuring facilities are kept in top condition and safe for all visitors. Prior custodial or janitorial experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods and safe chemical handling.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Ability to read instructions, manuals, and safety guides.
• Basic record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and maintain assigned areas throughout the facility.
• Perform routine custodial duties: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash and recycling.
• Complete floor care: wet mopping, buffing, stripping.
• Operate custodial equipment safely and effectively.
• Assist with room setups and breakdowns for programs and events.
• Monitor inventory and restock cleaning supplies as needed.
• Identify, document, and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
• Follow safety procedures for chemicals and equipment.

Help Create a Clean, Safe, and Welcoming YMCA Experience

The Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA is seeking a dependable and detail‑oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment for members, guests, and staff. Essential Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and maintain assigned areas throughout the facility, including wellness spaces, program rooms, locker rooms, offices, and common areas.
• Perform routine custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning, trash removal, and recycling collection.
• Complete floor care tasks such as wet mopping, buffing, stripping, and other maintenance procedures as needed.
• Operate custodial equipment including vacuums, floor buffers, pressure washers, and other cleaning tools safely and effectively.
• Assist with room setups and breakdowns for programs, meetings, and special events.
• Monitor inventory levels and restock cleaning and facility supplies as needed.
• Identify, document, and report maintenance or repair needs in a timely manner.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Support a safe, clean, and professional environment for all YMCA members and guests.

Qualifications

• Ability to read instructions, equipment manuals, and safety guidelines.

• Ability to work independently and manage priorities throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Previous custodial, housekeeping, facilities, or janitorial experience preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

$9.00-$12.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday
• Between the hours of 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
