Job summary

Madison County in Virginia City, MT is seeking a custodial staff member to provide cleaning, sanitary, and comfortable surroundings for county offices and the public. The position mainly involves evening shifts and may require occasional weekend hours.

Responsibilities include cleaning Administration Building, Courthouse, Sheriff's Office, and other facilities; restrooms, restocking supplies; emptying trash; coordinating with Custodial Supervisor; completing daily logs; and reporting repairs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school with one year of technical training in facilities systems.
• Must be self-motivated, cooperative, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• General knowledge of cleaning and custodial work.

Responsibilities

• Clean for the Administration Bldg. and the Courthouse and other county offices.
• Clean and disinfect toilets and sinks in restrooms daily.
• Fill towel, toilet paper and soap dispensers daily or as needed.
• Sweep and mop restrooms floors daily.
• Wipe down stalls, doors, mirrors, etc. as needed.
• Clean Sheriff's Office, 911 Dispatch Center, Dept. of Public Health and Library and DES daily.
• Empty trashcans daily and deliver to disposal site.
• Gather recyclable materials and deliver to designated containers at the disposal site weekly.
• Vacuum main hallway and office carpets daily.
• Vacuum and dust vaults (except Treasury) as needed. Coordinate with department heads.
• Dust and polish uncovered furniture, fixtures, and windowsills as scheduled.
• Clean walls, woodwork and drapes as needed.
• Wash windows as needed. Coordinate with Custodial Supervisor.
• Shampoo or spot clean carpets as needed. Coordinate with Custodial Supervisor.
• Communicate with Custodial Supervisor on a regular basis.
• Check paper tray for work related materials.
• Close windows and lock doors on a daily basis.
• Report needed repairs to the Custodial Supervisor.
• Coordinate with Custodial Supervisor for sick leave and vacations.
• Advise Custodial Supervisor of needed cleaning supplies.
• Complete daily log sheets and submit to the Custodial Supervisor with each timesheet.
• Other duties as may be required by the Custodial Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The custodial staff are supervised by the Custodian Supervisor and provides a wide variety of cleaning services for the multiple offices and buildings located in Virginia City. Applicant will be required to submit to a driving record check as a condition of employmentand beable to clear background checks and finger printing.

The job requires education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school plus one (1) year of technical training in one or more facilities systems.
