Job Overview

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.

Roles & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully and safely, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
  • Perform hazardous waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment
  • Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
  • Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stop at risk behavior of others and self
  • Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
  • Maintain clean work area
  • Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
  • Take direction and respond to supervision
  • Talk with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
  • Fill in during staff shortage
  • Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items
  • Use proper personal protective equipment
  • Present a professional appearance and conduct
  • Understand customer service and satisfaction
  • Understand reporting systems, and the environment

Education & Experience

No specific education requirement; 3–6 months of training or experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

May be required to have a valid driver’s license. Must complete all safety and task training certifications. May be required to be forklift certified.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with team
  • Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • The job requires frequent sitting, talking or listening and the ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • The work environment involves routine exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment, and potentially hazardous waste handling.
Compensation & Shift

$16.00 per hour
Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
