Job summary

Refractory-Service,-Inc. in Wisconsin is seeking a dependable custodian to keep our offices, shop areas, and shared spaces clean and welcoming on a Monday–Friday first shift. The role involves cleaning, organizing, restocking, and maintaining safety standards to ensure our facilities operate smoothly.

You’ll use attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintain hygiene across offices and production spaces, with occasional off hours and a focus on teamwork and reliability.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• 2-3 years of custodial experience preferred.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and handle cleaning chemicals safely.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in office and shop areas, including locker rooms.
• Dust and clean desks, shelves, windows, locker rooms, etc.
• Empty trash and dispose of waste according to recycling procedures.
• Coordinate dumpster pickup based on the schedule.
• Clean and restock restrooms, maintain common areas.
• Keep breakrooms clean (sinks, microwaves, dishwasher filters, trash cans).
• Ensure conference rooms, meeting spaces, and offices are clean and ready to use.
• Maintain safety standards by returning moved items and addressing hazards.
• Monitor cleaning and restroom supplies to ensure adequate stock.
• Report safety or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
• Safely handle cleaning products and chemicals.
• Assist with moving furniture when needed.

What You'll Do

This position is Monday - Friday, on first shift (~7-3:30). Occasional off hours might be required.

We require someone who is active and has the ability to move throughout office and shop environments. You’ll regularly use your hands, stand, walk, climb or balance, and bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, or crawl. You must be able to lift, move, and handle items. Physical stamina is needed, to stand, walk, and perform cleaning tasks for extended periods.

You should have adequate close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.

You’ll work in office and production environments with typical production noises, machinery, odors, and cleaning solutions. Noise levels are generally moderate.
