The Custodian will perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, yard duties, and assigned tasks in order to provide a clean and healthy learning environment in all school district facilities.

Personal Appearance: Dresses appropriately for position. Keeps self well-groomed. Wear School Board provided uniform daily.
Safety & Security: Observes safety and security procedures. Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines. Uses equipment and materials properly. Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Teamwork: Balances team and individual responsibilities. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others\' views. Gives and welcomes feedback. Contributes to building a positive team spirit. Puts success of team above own interests.

Experience: One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in large scale housekeeping, custodial, or building and grounds maintenance work.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: All new and current employees are highly encouraged to complete the Custodial Operations Career Advancement training program through Hillsborough County Public Schools.
Language Skills: Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations. Must possess basic comprehensive skills of the working English language.
Mathematical Skills: Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills: Internal HCPS email system and HCPS district website as appropriate.
Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, tasting/smelling, near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds; over 55 pounds requires a 2-person lift.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity: 3, moderate; extreme cold, extreme heat, wet/humid, work with cleaning chemicals – wear eye protection, vibration/impact, work with or near heavy equipment, proximity to moving mechanical parts, exposure to electrical shock, fumes, or airborne particles.
