Job summary

Coweta County School District is seeking a Custodian for East Coweta Middle School to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, floor care, waste management, and reporting damages to administration.

The position requires a minimum high school diploma or GED, strong attendance, and the ability to perform physical custodial tasks. This is an on-site role with duties assigned by the lead custodian or principal.

Qualifications

• Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relations with coworkers and school staff.
• Ability to perform physical custodial tasks including lifting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Ability to learn repetitive tasks and perform them under supervision.
• Working knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, clean, and well-maintained school environment.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors; clean blinds, windows, restrooms, and fixtures.
• Empty waste containers and manage trash per district guidelines.
• Move furniture as needed for activities and maintain equipment in good order.
• Comply with laws and directives from administrators; maintain excellent attendance.

Job Description

To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment in which to work and learn. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat, clean, and safe at all times. Performs essential building care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dewaxing, and waxing floors; cleaning blinds, window glass, light fixtures, walls, carpet, restrooms, and other spaces within a school facility. Sweeps classrooms and empties waste containers daily. Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it. Scrubs and disinfects restrooms' floors daily. Cleans all sanitary fixtures daily. Checks equipment and facility daily and reports any damage immediately to the principal. Works on the school premises during scheduled hours and remains on the school premises during periods when the principal has authorized use of the building for special purposes. Moves furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities, as directed by the lead custodian or principal. Complies with local laws, ordinances, and regulations for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste. Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive given by the lead custodian, principal, or other administrator. Excellent attendance and punctuality are required. Other duties as assigned by Lead and/or administrators.

Required Education, Certification, Or Training
