Responsibilities

• Vacuum carpets and area rugs, removing dirt and debris.

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including doors, toilets, floors, sinks, mirrors, and dispensers.
• Remove trash daily and replenish supplies as needed.

Job description

Summary

The custodians are responsible for the cleanliness and overall appearance of all Dixie Technical College facilities located in St. George, Utah. The part-time custodians will work a four-hour night shift daily. The custodians will ensure that students, faculty, and staff can work and learn in spaces that promote professionalism.

Dixie Tech is a public technical college located on a new state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 30 Council on Occupational Education-accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.

Hours: 8 PM to Midnight, Monday through Thursday, and 6 - 10 PM Fridays. The schedule may include an occasional Saturday.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Vacuum carpets and area rugs, removing all dirt and debris
• Mop hard surface flooring, removing all dirt and debris
• Clean drinking fountains and remove watermarks
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including entrance doors, stall doors, toilets, floors, sinks, mirrors, and dispensers
• Clean and sanitize break room microwaves, sinks, and surfaces daily
• Clean area surfaces and dust offices, conference rooms, and reception areas daily
• Clean and maintain debris-free entrance areas. Clean door areas as needed inside and out.
• Clean glass, removing handprints and smudges
• Remove trash daily
• Spot clean carpets as needed
• Replenish toiletry supplies and hand soap as needed
• Must be able to perform the above cleaning operations for up to four hours per day
• Maintain confidentiality
• Interact professionally with students, staff, and the public
• Report to the Custodial Supervisor
• Ensure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition. Report all violations immediately to HR or Student Services

Requirements And Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Prefer at least six months of custodial experience

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, sit, crouch, climb stairs, and move about; operate vacuums and other related equipment; safely use cleaning equipment and supplies; stand and be on foot for the full work shift; and use applicable hand and power tools.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal communications, and enforce safety procedures
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
