Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated Custodian for Redding Elementary School to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe and welcoming learning environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, restrooms, restocking supplies, light maintenance, securing premises, and assisting with freight and furniture moves. Applicants should have a high school diploma and ability to read safety rules, with good teamwork and compliance with district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies

Responsibilities

• Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment in the building, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping and waxing floors; rubbish removal
• Cleans and disinfects bathroom sinks, toilets and urinals, mirrors
• Check hand soap, paper towel, & tissue supplies
• Cleans classroom sinks/faucets
• Replaces light bulbs as needed
• Unlocks and locks premises, secures windows and activates/deactivates the alarm systems
• Cleans and maintains custodial equipment daily after each use
• Helps in unloading of freight as needed with delivery to specified areas
• Moves classroom furniture as needed

Physical Demands of Job

• Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks
• Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders
• Push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment
