Job summary

City of Reading, PA is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in assigned facilities. Duties include dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathroom cleaning, and exterior upkeep as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid PA Class C driver's license preferred.
• At least five (5) years of custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and handle the physical demands of the job.

Responsibilities

• Dusting / vacuuming carpets, mats, and rugs.
• Sweeping and mopping of floors.
• Thorough cleaning of all bathrooms / locker rooms.
• Exterior building cleaning including snow removal and leaf cleanup.
• Perform all duties assigned.

The Part-Time Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment withing assigned facilities. This position performs routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal and sanitizing restrooms and common areas. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and must be able to work independently in an office/ light industrial setting.

Typical duties may include but not limited to:

• Dusting / vacuuming carpets, mats, and rugs
• Sweeping and mopping of floors
• Thorough cleaning of all bathrooms / locker rooms
• Keeping the exterior of the building clean which may include shoveling/snow removal, leaf clean up, etc.
• Perform all duties assigned.
• The Custodian must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and handle the physical demands of the job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirements/Experience

• A High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Valid PA Class C driver’s license is preferred.
