Job summary

Girls Inc. of Omaha is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our facilities.

You will perform custodial care, basic maintenance, and grounds keeping under the supervision of the Deputy Director, ensuring a welcoming environment for girls, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include floor care, restroom sanitation, trash disposal, window cleaning, minor repairs, and event support.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of custodial or maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Experience with floor care equipment and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work safely at heights.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in youth-serving or educational environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain floors (sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum).
• Sanitize and restock restrooms throughout the day.
• Empty trash and recycling bins; dispose of waste properly.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
• Perform carpet spot cleaning and assist with floor care (stripping, waxing, buffing).
• Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
• Conduct basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, lighting, ceiling tiles, furniture).
• Inspect and maintain facility systems (fire extinguishers, AEDs, water valves, sanitizer stations).
• Support event setups and breakdowns for trainings and special functions.
• Maintain building exterior and grounds (trash removal, snow/ice management, lawn care).
• Report needed repairs or hazards promptly.
• Collaborate professionally with staff and demonstrate reliability and teamwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
