Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift in North Charleston, SC. You will keep offices and facilities clean, manage trash, and assist with restrooms and common areas while adhering to safety regulations.

The role requires dependable teamwork, a safety-conscious mindset, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record. A Secret security clearance may be required in this position.

Qualifications

• Experience in custodial work preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of safety practices and site safety rules.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Valid state driver’s license with safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic cleaning of offices and facilities.
• Clean floors, walls, glass, and restrooms; remove rubbish.
• Gathers and empties trash near main entrances.
• Polish furniture and fixtures; dust office equipment.
• Move equipment as needed and report major needs to supervisor.
• Follow safety regulations and company policies; perform other duties.

Work Location: North Charleston, SC

Labor Category: Non-Exempt | CBA – IUOE

Clearance Level: Secret

Travel Requirement: N/A

Pay Rate: $21.90

Health & Welfare: $980.00/month (paid on an hourly basis)

Shift Assignments are at the discretion of site management:

• 1st shift will be paid the base hourly rate.

• 2nd shift will be paid the base hourly rate plus $0.25/hour.

• 3rd shift will be paid the base hourly rate plus $0.50/hour.

About the Role

The Custodian is responsible for keeping offices, buildings, and facilities in clean and orderly condition.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform periodic cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass and removing rubbish.
• Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
• Gathers and empties trash including trashcans in the proximity of exterior main entrances.
• Services, supplies and cleans restrooms.
• Cleans and polishes furniture and drinking fountain fixtures.
• Dusting of office furniture, walls, machines and equipment.
• Mixes water and detergents in containers according to product specifications to prevent damage to floors, fixtures or furniture.
• Drives vehicle for travel across facility to various buildings.
• May have to move equipment and supplies either manually or by using a hand truck.
• Informs lead and/or manager of need of any major equipment for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• Related custodial experience preferred but not required.
• Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
• Possess and demonstrate a courteous and positive attitude toward customers.
• Ability to follow policies, procedures and operating instructions.
• Demonstrated aptitude for successful completions of assigned tasks.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 25 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, standing, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
• Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
