Job summary

A community service organization is seeking a caretaker to keep Head Start Centers clean and orderly by performing general maintenance tasks both indoors and outdoors. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and assisting with minor repairs. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and good housekeeping habits. This position does not require prior experience but demands considerable mental concentration and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The applicant must also complete necessary clearances.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space.

• Cautions students regarding conduct and property misuse.
• Provides lawn maintenance and snow removal.
• Assists with daily safety inspections and upkeep.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding Head Start children and families.
• Provides assistance with recruiting children and encourages In-Kind participation.

Wage Range

All new employees enter at the bottom of the wage scale unless they have previous experience in the position with a Head Start program.

Special Requirement: History verification showing free of child abuse/neglect by authorities.

Act 33/34 Clearances and staff health assessment completed.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily safety inspections and upkeep.
• Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Head Start children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Provides assistance with recruiting children by using community resources, staff, and parent contacts.
• Encourages In-Kind participation.
• Performs other related work as required on behalf of the agency.
