City of Muskogee is seeking a Custodian to perform custodial duties and light maintenance to keep municipal buildings sanitary and safe. Responsibilities include cleaning floors, windows, restrooms, and common areas, preparing rooms for meetings, and reporting emergencies.
Regular attendance and the ability to handle physical tasks are required. Qualified applicants may have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior custodial experience is preferred but not required.
Responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that municipal buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

The Custodian reports directly to an assigned Department/Division Head.
The Custodian does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.
Training and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Previous custodial experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Good knowledge of manual labor work practices, methods, tools and materials of varied general maintenance work; and good knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work. Knowledge of maintaining, cleaning and preserving a variety of surfaces; proper use of a wide range of chemicals and handling and disposing of hazardous materials with care. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to use various types of tools and custodial equipment; and the ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other members of the organization, and the public in giving and receiving information.

While performing the duties of this job, arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity will be needed enough to use a key board and telephone. Frequent walking, standing, lifting, and carrying of objects up to 60 pounds, balancing, bending, handling, climbing, twisting, kneeling and repetitive movements. Vision, speech, hearing, and feeling sufficient to perform essential tasks. Punctuality and reasonable attendance is essential. Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D driver's license is required.
Work in this classification is consistent indoors and outdoors. Will travel within City as required.
