This position is included in the classified staff non-supervisory bargaining unit. Union shop requirements and the Collective Bargaining Agreement apply to this position.
Employment contingent upon completion and verification of form information and background check with fee to be paid by applicant.
Pay for contracted classified employees is distributed once/month on the last business day of the month. Pay for employees who work less than full year is spread through August. Questions concerning pay processes may be directed to the Personnel Office.

Custodian
Responsible to: Maintenance Supervisor and Building Administrator
Work Year: 200Days, 7.00 hours/day
This position is shared between Mount Baker Middle School and Skagit Academy. The hours are 3:00-6:00 at Skagit Academy and 6:00-10:30 at MBMS. Lunch and travel time built in to the schedule.
General: Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, building administrator and/or the Head Custodian, participate in the work of keeping school buildings and facilities properly maintained, clean and orderly.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous school custodial experience preferred.
Ability to read in English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present in English information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to staff, students, parents, and community members.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
