Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across assigned facilities, including locker rooms and floors, with a focus on a positive member experience. Nights and weekends are required.

Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, equipment setup/breakdown, and responding to emergencies. The role offers training and growth opportunities within a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the community.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize walls, floors, furniture, equipment following label instructions.
• Vacuum, sweep, dust all areas and dispose of trash as per procedures.
• Set up and break down equipment; ensure program equipment is clean and in good working order.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and maintain safety of members, participants, guests and staff.
• Maintain closets and shop areas in neat, organized, and safe condition with labeled supplies and chemicals.

What is needed for this:

• 18 years of age with a high school or technical school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Clean and sanitize walls, floors, furniture, equipment utilizing the proper supplies and in accordance with product label instructions. Vacuum, sweep, dust all areas, furniture, light fixtures, and other equipment. Routinely monitor trash and dispose in accordance with procedures.
• Set up and break down equipment as needed. Ensure all equipment for member programs is clean, sanitized and in good working order.
• Respond promptly to all emergency situations as well as maintain the safety of all members, program participants, guests, and staff.
• Maintain closets and shop areas in neat, organized, and safe condition with all supplies and chemicals properly labeled.
