Job summary

Madison College seeks a full-time Custodian for the Truax Campus 2nd shift, 6:00pm–2:00am, Monday–Friday. You will perform cleaning tasks across classrooms, offices and common areas, with guidance from supervisors and possible student help.

A $2.00/hour shift differential applies for eligible hours, including Sundays. The role offers an advancement plan with potential $1.00/hour increases upon meeting criteria, plus a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, holidays,

  • HS Diploma, GED or equivalent working experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains cleanliness of campus facilities via dusting, sweeping and sanitizing restrooms.
  • Manages custodial supply inventory and restocks as needed.
  • Handles recycling collection and proper disposal of recyclables.
  • Performs additional duties to support operations and campus objectives.

This role involves hands-on manual tasks related to a range of custodial duties.What sets this position apart from other custodians is the level of effort and autonomy it demands. While receiving instructions from supervisors or lead custodians, it doesn't oversee peers at the same level and isn't the sole custodian for a particular building. The Custodial Supervisor provides guidance, with potential additional input from the custodial lead worker for exceptional tasks.The Custodian may also involve directing the work of and receive assistance from student help, temporary workers, and work study personnel.Position Details:Schedule: This full-time, 40-hours a week, 52-weeks a year position at Madison College Truax Campus. Monday through Friday 6:00pm - 2:00am.Shift Differential Pay: This position will earn $2.00 per hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00pm and 6:00am, as well as for any hours worked on Sundays.Expected Progression: This position includes an expected progression plan. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.Required Documents (1):Resume*Failure to include this document by the first consideration date will result in the disqualification of your application.Accountabilities:Maintains cleanliness of campus facilities by dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms, emptying waste receptacles to ensure a hygienic environment in classrooms, offices and common areas.Manages custodial supply inventory by monitoring stock levels, restocking supplies and ensuring availability of necessary cleaning materials to maintain operations.Handles recycling collection by picking up, sorting and properly disposing of recyclable materials to align with campus sustainability practices.Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment and products.Knowledge of safety procedures related to custodial tasks.Ability to effectively operate and learn to use hand tools, small power tools, and custodial equipment.Ability to work independently and efficiently while prioritizing tasks.Ability to follow safety protocols, handle cleaning materials properly and maintain a sanitary environment.Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment.Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others.Minimum Requirements:EducationHS Diploma, GED or equivalent working experience. *Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.Experience0-2 years of relevant experience.Madison College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.
