Job Details

As part of the Endeavor Schools Family, Wellington Preparatory Academy is seeking a Custodian to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the school building while upholding high standards of health and safety. The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Custodian will report directly to the School Leader and will work collaboratively with staff to create a positive learning environment for students.

Essential Tasks:

1. Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
2. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and buff floors to maintain cleanliness and safety.
3. Empty and dispose of trash in designated areas.
4. Sanitize high-contact surfaces to promote a healthy environment.
5. Maintain restrooms by cleaning, restocking supplies, and addressing minor repairs.
6. Assist with setting up and breaking down for school events and activities.
7. Monitor and report maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Manager.
8. Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
9. Follow all health and safety guidelines to prevent hazards and maintain compliance with school policies.
10. Buff and polish tile floors to enhance their longevity and appearance.
11. Clean both the interior and exterior of windows to provide clear visibility and a professional appearance.
12. Replace light bulbs and perform basic maintenance to ensure a well-lit and safe environment.
13. Assist with decorations and setup for special events or school functions.

Skills:

1. Attention to detail.
2. Promptness in completing assignments.
3. Ability to use standard office equipment such as a laptop computer and smartphone.
4. Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate in written and verbal forms of the English language at a level understandable to 90-95% of parents and staff.

Experience and Education:

1. High school Diploma or GED.
2. Previous custodian or janitorial experience is a plus.
