Job summary

Vista Charter Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to help maintain clean, safe school facilities and support daily operations under the plant manager/site administrator.

The role involves assisting with events, inventory, safety policies, and collaborating with students, staff, and partners; physical tasks such as lifting and standing as needed, and a preference for bilingual Spanish speakers.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with students in a learning environment.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Flexible, positive, detail-oriented, team player, patient and willing to learn.
• Assists in maintaining standards of school safety and civility and ensuring observance of rules and procedures by students and staff on a school campus at the direction of the school administrator.
• Lifting, walking, sitting and standing for periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with community partners/leaseholders where shared occupancy space is occurring.
• Coordinate with after school groups or outside vendors who use the school.
• Follow laws, district policies, and health and safety regulations.

Job description

The custodians’ primary responsibilities and qualifications are listed below. All custodians are to report to the plant manager/ site administrator (s). The custodian is responsible for assisting in maintaining the facilities of the school site. The custodian is responsible for ensuring that the facility is well maintained and running appropriately to maintenance standards. The custodian will help maintain a school environment and culture by being able to communicate and work with a diverse group of students, parents, faculty members, board members and community partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for maintaining the quality of school facilities.
• Assist Plant Manager with all school scheduling, special events, cafeteria, maintenance, playgrounds and cleaning.
• Assists in maintain equipment, textbook and supply inventories.
• Assists in coordination with administration to maintain a positive, safe learning environment for students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• On going communication community partners/ leaseholders where shared occupancy space is occurring
• Assists with the coordination and communication with after school groups or outside vendors who use the school
• Must understand, and follow, practices, policies and procedures regarding:
  • Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
  • District operations policies, procedures and objectives
  • Health and safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
