Job summary

Position Summary:

KIC is seeking a full time Custodian to join our team in Kotzebue. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in our facilities. The Custodian will be responsible for ensuring facilities are well-kept, performing routine cleaning and sanitization, and assisting with general maintenance tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Sweep and mop floors as assigned.
• Wash linens as needed.
• Dust facilities and apartments.
• Clean vacated rooms and apartments.
• Dispose of trash on a regular basis.
• Vacuum or steam clean rooms and apartments.
• Complete work orders as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• Prior experience cleaning in apartments and/or leased rooms.
• Ability and knowledge of appliances to report and complete work orders as required.

Work Environment:

This position operates primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor work. Custodians may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, and moderate noise from equipment. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when handling certain chemicals or equipment.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

• Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
• Ability to frequently use hands and arms to handle, reach, or operate cleaning tools and equipment.
• Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or crouch.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and similar machinery.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions as part of routine cleaning tasks.
