Job description

Job Objective: This position is responsible for performing cleaning, housekeeping, light maintenance to maintain the appearance, safety and security of the building and grounds.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain all floors


• Provide scheduled general cleaning maintaining building appearance, safety and security


• Empty trash


• May provide minor building maintenance (minor painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and other relate maintenance activities)


• Inspect and notify management concerning needs for major repairs, safety or security issues


• Advise direct supervisor of janitorial and building supply needs


• Provide routine outside Clean snow and debris from sidewalk


• Follow schedule for cleaning windows, furniture, floor polishing


• Set up furniture for meetings as required


• Assist with receiving donations


• Assist with seasonal activities

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Two years' experience in maintenance field preferred

Certifications/Licenses: None

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in building related skills and trades


• Ability to read and understand schedules, work orders and product safety information


• Ability to organize, prioritize and meet work schedules on timely basis with minimum of direct supervision


• Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment including hand tools


• Ability to work irregular and extended hours when required


• Willingness to accept on call assignments during building emergencies.


• Position requires a confident, self-motivated, multi-tasked individual with integrity in the use of resources

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Physical Requirements: Include standing, walking, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods of time; lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job.

Driving: Yes. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors; may require irregular and/or extended hours on occasion
