Job summary

Bering-Alaka'ina Holdings (BAH) seeks a Custodian to support the Haleakalā National Park Summit District in Maui, Hawai‘i. Responsibilities include cleaning two visitor centers, an administrative area, a campground, and trailheads, with emphasis on restroom disinfection and general upkeep.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, two years of custodial experience, and the ability to pass a federal background check. U.S. citizenship is required.

• Two years of custodial work experience.
• Lift up to 30 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Able to manage time to complete tasks within schedules while maintaining quality.
• Understand health and safety regulations for cleaning chemicals/equipment.
• Attention to detail to maintain clean, presentable facilities.
• Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Must speak/read/write English.
• U.S. Citizenship
• Pass a federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide custodial services to Haleakalā National Park Summit District, including two visitor centers, one campground, and multiple trailheads.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks: remove trash, mirrors, drinking fountains, dusting.
• Disinfect restrooms: clean, descale, sweep/mop floors, stock supplies, graffiti removal, repairs as needed.
• Provide emergency cleaning services and assist with special events.
• Conduct periodic deep cleaning and other duties as assigned.

Position

Bering-Alaka'ina Holdings (BAH) is looking for a Custodian to provide support services to the Haleakal National Park Summit District located in Maui, Hawai'i.

Responsibilities

• Provide custodial services to the Haleakal National Park Summit District which include two visitor centers, several administrative offices, one campground, and multiple trailheads.
• Services include but are not limited to:
  • Basic cleaning services
    • Remove trash and recycling
    • Mirrors
    • Drinking fountains
    • General spot cleaning/ disinfecting
    • General dusting
  • Restroom disinfecting
    • Clean and disinfect
    • Descale, toilet bowls and urinals
    • Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors
    • Stock restroom supplies
    • Graffiti removal
    • Needed repairs
    • Clogged/blocked toilets
  • Emergency cleaning services
  • Assistance with special events
  • Periodic deep cleaning
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Degree/Education/Certification

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Required Skills and Experience

• Two (2) years of custodial work experience.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to efficiently manage time to complete tasks within designated schedules while maintaining quality standards
• Have an understanding of health and safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Possess the attention to detail to be thorough in cleaning tasks and ensuring that facilities are well‑maintained and presentable to visitors
• Able to use small and portable hand and power tools
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English
