Lead Custodian & Building Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Regulates heat and ventilation systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
• Shovels, plows, or sands walks and steps as appropriate in the winter.
• Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and are working properly during hours of building occupancy.
• Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
• Cleans halls after school each day and during the day when the condition requires it.
• Scrubs and disinfects floors, and cleans all restroom fixtures and drinking fountains.
• Washes all windows on both inside and outside of buildings.
• Keeps the grounds free of trash.
• Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition.
• Cleans all chalkboards and trays.
• Makes minor building repairs as he/she is capable of.
• Reports major repairs needed promptly to maintain department.
• Reports to the principal any damage to school property.
• Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
• Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the principal.
• Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured and all lights except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.

SALARY

$19 per hour
